Scalextric…Christmas day and beyond

For many kids, young and old, seeing that large rectangular box sitting under the Christmas tree means one thing. A Scalextric set!!

It doesn’t matter how old you are or if you even like cars or motorsport, there’s something about Scalextric that makes you want to have a go, and even more so, win.Setting up your track is half the fun and it’s usually the point where Dad thinks he knows best and slowly moves you aside to embark on this epic piece of engineering.

So your new set is up and running and the skirting board as seen a fair few knocks from spinning touring cars or crazed F1 Drivers, but you now want something more. Obviously, the world of Scalextric is vast, so a few new cars will add choice but for complete flexibility it’s time to dive into the world of track.

For quick and instant thrills, the C8511 track pack is just the ticket. Not only do you get a nail biting section of track labelled “side swipes” which basically narrows the road on one side, you get a jump! Just like all the greatest Bond films, you too can start jumping cars over this ultra cool track section.

If this isn’t enough the C8512 track pack provides you with the same side swipe sections as the C8511 set does, but this time they are leading into and round a hairpin curve. Early breaking is out when you have this extension pack added to your circuit.

If you still want more and are scratching for ideas, or a birthdays coming up and track sections have been requested, then before you dive in for a ton of straights and then realise the odd curve might be useful try the C8328 PC CD ROM Track designer. Design and create your ideal circuit along with buildings and accessories and create a virtual shopping list on your PC.

Being the owner of a Scalextric set is special and if nothing else you simply must have a C8332 Dunlop bridge. It’s about as Scalextric as it gets….Enjoy.
